Wednesday night rehearsal
Under the direction of Steve and Sara Munshaw, the Choir rehearses each Thursday evening beginning at 7pm. We work hard to learn our music but each rehearsal also includes a special time of prayer and worship as we welcome God’s presence into our lives and our rehearsal time. The choir functions as a community of faith, caring for and supporting each other. Children are welcome to join WoW Kids and we have special childcare available for ages 2 and under.
We welcome additional members who have worshipping hearts, joyfully tuned to the Lord. New members are received into the Adult Choir throughout the year. If you are interested in receiving more details on our application process for Adult Choir, please click here for more details.
Q&A for Adult KRT Choir
Do I have to sing at all 3 services?
No, right now the choir sings in only the first two services so the Sunday commitment is really easy! Show up at 8:15 and you can leave by 10:45!
Do I have to read music to join?
No, we learn most of our music by rote (memory) but if you can read music it’s sometimes helpful – not necessary.
Do I have to join choir for the entire year?
There are two entry points for the choir – one in the fall and one in the spring. Once you join us you’ll be glad you did!
What if I work shift work and can’t make all of the rehearsals?
We understand that we all have busy lives and attempt to work with your schedule as much as possible. Please talk to us about the implications of your schedule and we’ll work with you to make the best decision.
What do I do about childcare?
We have choir rehearsals every Wednesday night that coincides with our kids program “Wow Wednesdays” for ages 3 to grade 5. If you have children younger than that we will arrange special childcare with enough notice.
What special events is the choir involved with throughout the year?
In the year 2008, the choir will be involved with our weekly celebration gatherings on Sundays, with special event days including Easter Weekend, Canada Day Finale, Christmas Spectacular and a potential choir recording in May.
KRT Musicians
Under the direction of Stan Cherian, the rhythm section rehearses each Thursday at 7 pm in the sanctuary. Playing on the team offers a unique opportunity to use your instrumental gifts and abilities in Sunday morning worship services, seasonal musical events, and special guest ministry appearances. The musical experience of the KRT ranges from high school/college students to musicians with forty years of semi-professional and professional experience.
On occasion, we incorporate an orchestra into special events at KRT. If you play a stringed, wind, or brass instrument and would like to play your musical instrument for the Lord, please consider joining. Instrumentalists are received throughout the year based on proficiency and need.
Youth Music
iSing Youth Choir meets every Friday afternoon from 5:30 to 7:00 pm under the direction of Pastor Steve, Andrew and Dupe. We are also preparing for a choir trip this July to Cape Breton where we will be working with a fantastic ministry and a great pastor, Dave Sawler. New members can audition in the fall. Ages 12-18.
Youth Musicians
3 worship bands rehearse every Sunday morning. If you would like to be in one of these bands, please contact Pastor Donny or Pastor Steve Munshaw. These bands will be playing for most of our youth events held at KRT so if you can play - we need you!
Jazz Band
We are looking for Jazz band participants to begin practicing under the direction of Ben Tan. If you play Trumpet, Sax or Trombone, (or any other instrument) and you're a Senior High Student, we need you to plug into the Jazz Band.
